How to Raid Other Streamers on Twitch

When you are about to finish a stream, you have two options on what to do next.

You can just click the “Stop Streaming” button and call it a day or you can send your viewers to another streamer with Twitch’s integrated Raid feature.

Today, we will see how to do the second option.

Let’s get started.

What are Raids?

Before we get to how to raid, first, I want to quickly mention what they are.

To put it simply, Raids are a Twitch feature that is meant for streamers to send their chat to another streamer once they are about to go offline.

This is a nice feature to have on a streaming platform because it helps viewers discover new/smaller streamers and it can lead to some funny moments too.

I have personally been introduced to many streamers via this feature, so I’m glad we have this.

How to Raid?

Now, with the main topic of this post. To Raid other streamers, you can do it in 2 ways:

Chat commands

By going to your stream chat, you can write “/raid” and you will get the option to raid a channel.

However, you need to make sure you write the channel name correctly, or you will raid the wrong person. You also have to check if the channel is active before you raid, or you might risk raiding someone who’s not currently streaming.

To prevent these issues, you can do the second method.

Raid Button

If you go over to your Stream Manager, in the Quick Actions section, you’ll find a few buttons to perform different actions while streaming.

The “parachute” button is the Raid button.

When you press it, you will get a list of channels that are currently live.

If you want to raid some specifically, you can click on the “Search and Filter” button to see if that person is live.

For example, one of the streamers available when writing this post was RikoandTako, and when selecting his channel, you get the following popup:

You can preview the stream, see the chat, look at some general information about the streamer, skip to the previous or next channel, go back, or start the raid.

If you can’t find the Raid button in your Stream Manager, you can add it by clicking the + icon.

That will open a pop-up with all the buttons you can add.

To find the Raid button, go to the Community tab, and you can add it there. I already have it, so it shows “Remove”. If you don’t have it, it will say “Add”.

That’s all you have to do to raid another fellow streamer.

Final Thoughts

Finishing your stream with a raid is one of the best ways for other people to find your channel.

When you raid, I recommend you do the second method since it will help you prevent some embarrassing moments raiding someone who isn’t even streaming or worse, raiding the wrong person.

And who knows, maybe that streamer you raid once will raid you back one day.

See you next time.
