Crowdfund All Your Projects With SPONSA

A promising new platform worth checking out.

Crowdfund All Your Projects With SPONSA

Crowdfunding is one of the main ways content creators can fund their projects without depending on social media platforms to promote their content or accept them into their partner/affiliate programs.

This monetization method is crucial for creators since platforms like YouTube or Twitch can make sudden changes in their terms and conditions that may affect the livelihood of creators.

Today, we will review SPONSA, one of the most recent players in the crowdfunding space, to help you decide if it is the best for you.

Let's start.

🤔What is SPONSA?

SPONSA is a platform powered by Velo City, which consists of Shabir and Aasif, who are 2 British brothers who are also content creators and do vtuber, K-pop, and anime reactions.

They saw a problem that most crowdfunding platforms had:

They only let you set up ONE tipping goal at a time.

Instead of waiting for one of these platforms to allow for more goals, they decided to create their own, and I respect that.

This means that SPONSA is a platform created by creators, for creators, and it was designed to help them fund various projects at the same time.

It has raised over $50,000

Currently, SPONSA is in its Alpha, so the only way to access it is by creating a supporter account first and then filling out a form to request access to the creator version.

🔬Features

As mentioned initially, this is a pretty new platform, so it doesn't currently have many features. However, I believe that SPONSA is still worth mentioning.

Tipping page

This is one of its main features.

As a content creator, having a page where you can let your audience support you is one of the main ways you can monetize your content, even before you get accepted into any partner program.

With SPONSA, you can set up a tipping page to do exactly this, and supporters can give you a tip from their cards or PayPal.

Once you make a page on this platform, you can customize an About Me section so you can give some information to newcomers about yourself, give yourself a tag depending on what type of creator you are, and add your socials.

Example of a customized About Me section

You will also get a Dashboard to see your total earnings, supporters, and goals reached.

Multiple crowdfunding goals

This is its main feature.

SPONSA lets its users create various goals for crowdfunding different projects, like the example in the image above. This way, you don't have to wait for one goal to be fully funded before starting a new one, and your supporters can pick their favorite goal to help you reach it.

Example goals

Once you create a goal, you can pin it to your page so it appears first and stands out from the rest.

This way, your supporters will know which goal is the most important for you and might help you fund it.

You can also copy the goals browser source to add them to your streaming application (OBS, Streamlabs, PrismLiveStudio, etc). That way, whenever someone contributes to a goal, you will get an alert on your stream.

Additionally, you can reorganize your goals, mark them as complete, or delete them.

Leaderboard

You also get a leader board that will show all your current supporters so they know who is currently your most dedicated fan.

The leaderboard will show the rank, name, and total amount donated by each supporter.

💸Cost & Withdrawl Methods

SPONSA is free to access; you only need to create a supporter account first and then contact the creators to gain access for a creator account. Once you have it, you get access to all its features.

However, they take a 5% transaction fee to keep the platform going, and it only has PayPal and Stripe as withdrawal methods.

If you have access to these payment methods, though, you can receive payments in all types of currencies, but PayPal and Stripe, currently, will only convert them to USD and GBP.

✅Pros

  • It's free
  • You receive most of your earnings
  • Its payment methods are some of the most widely used worldwide
  • Offers the basic features needed to crowdfund your projects
  • It's made by creators, so they are more likely to understand their users
  • They don't hold the money; you receive it instantly into your payment method
  • You can get tips in any currency
  • It's literally the only tipping platform where you can crowdfund numerous projects simultaneously

❌Cons

  • It takes a 5% transaction fee on every donation you get
  • Since it's new, it still lacks various features that other platforms have
  • The payment methods are not available in many countries
  • Lacks promotional materials
  • Currently, you need to get approved by the creators to use it
  • It only converts tips into USD or GBP

It might be best for you if...

  • You just want a functioning tipping page
  • You are working on multiple projects and want to let your supporters choose which one to support
  • You can receive tips in USD or GBP
  • You are a content creator
  • You want low cuts that won't affect your earnings too much

❓FAQ

What makes SPONSA different from other platforms

Its main selling point is that it lets you have multiple tipping goals at the same time.

There is no other tipping platform that lets you do that.

Will they add more features?

The creators stated on their website that they'll add more features in the future. Including Membership Tiers, a Donothon Widget, and a Mobile App (Android and iOS), so we can expect them to ad more.

How can I contact the creators?

You can get in touch with them in 2 ways:

  1. By sending a DM on their official Twitter/X
  2. Sending them an email at support@sponsa.app

Do I need a big following to get a creator account?

No, you don't need a big following to get a creator account.

I had less than 400 followers on Twitch, YouTube, and Twitter combined when I got approved, so you should be safe as long as you are a content creator.

If you are looking for a tipping platform that has more features than those offered by SPONSA, then one of these alternatives might be a better pick for you.

Unlike the other options, it doesn't offer a tipping feature, but it's still the crowdfunding platform most used by creators, so it's worth mentioning.

Conclusion

Even at its early stages, SPONSA has all the features you currently need to receive support from your community and crowdfund the projects you want to create.

The ability to list numerous goals is also a game-changer, especially as a new creator/vtuber, because there are many things you have to get to improve your model, streams, and content.

Now, instead of waiting for a single goal to be completed, you can set all of them up and let your community fund the projects they want the most.

If you are someone who is cooking various projects at the same time, then I recommend you apply to give SPONSA a try.

That's all for today.
